Overall v stars for all 3 stories.

If you are interested in the manner things progressed in the by and savour reading about character development and interpersonal relationships, these stories should satisfy and move yous. If y'all are looking for action, passionate honey, and involved catastrophes, they probably are not going to interest you lot.

Prairie Trilogy

My Antonia favorite of the three. Detailed setting and character descriptions pulls the reader into the stories and prairie life. The writing is outstanding, however, storyline of The Song of the Lark too drawn out, resulting in four stars instead of 5 for the trilogy.

Very different style than the modern stuff I've been reading. Finished the outset two but needed a intermission earlier I tackle the last one. The Song of the Distraction got a bit long and I didn't enjoy it as much as O Pioneers. Very unlike style than the modern stuff I've been reading. I'thou glad I re-read it because information technology's beautiful and heartbreaking. In this collection, though, my favorite is O Pioneers! Everyone seems to include The Dandy Gatsby among the "not bad American novels" only no one mentions O Pioneers! in the same company. They should. O Pioneers! shows some much about America -- the hard work and conclusion of immigrants, the longing for a improve life, wholesome love versus marriages of convenience, and tragedy....(no spoilers.) If you lot oasis't read information technology, you lot must.

Song of the Distraction is an excellent portrait of a adult female struggling to become an artist and dealing with the price of fame.

I was able to download this volume for free on my Kindle, but it would have been worth buying. It is certainly worth the investment of time to read (or re-read) these classics.

Book group summer 2018. My Antonia is a archetype for a reason. Fabled look at life of the time. A must read, practice yourself a favor. Oh Pioneers less compelling merely however a worthy read however Vocal of the Lark I found to be a painstakingly long graphic symbol study westward trivial reference to history or surroundings. Could not wait to cease it and motility on. I believe this was Cather'southward attempt at something different and information technology had nowhere near the enthralling images and history of My Antonia.
