I've reached the point in my life where I realize I've been reading for over 60 years. That's my excuse for not ever remembering a book in great item, or even whether I've read a item book already. I know I've read My Antonia and O Pioneers; not sure about Song of the Distraction. I exercise know I've loved everything I've read by Willa Cather. Currently enjoying One of Ours. This "trilogy" caught my center and I had to mark it "read" in society to ask this question. Was thuis a marketing ploy, or did the writer intend ut as a trilogy? Just curious. Going to read or reread all iii ni order regardless.

I plant it dull reading considering I enjoyed savoring the writing mode. I equate these stories with Conrad Richter's "Enkindling State Triology" merely all different in the way they satisfy.
My Antonia favorite of the three. Detailed setting and character descriptions pulls the reader into the stories and prairie life. The writing is outstanding, however, storyline of The Song of the Lark too drawn out, resulting in four stars instead of 5 for the trilogy.
The people are existent, from many countries. The land in My Antonia is amazing, it lives, breaths. Her knowledge is amazing.
I'thou glad I re-read it because information technology'south beautiful and heartbreaking. In this collection, though, my favorite is O Pioneers! This volume came highly recommended from a friend. I had read My Antonia in school and that was enough to turn me off Willa Cather. I mean, I just didn't care -- and frankly, I was non mature enough to appreciate it.I'thou glad I re-read it because information technology's beautiful and heartbreaking. In this collection, though, my favorite is O Pioneers! Everyone seems to include The Dandy Gatsby among the "not bad American novels" only no one mentions O Pioneers! in the same company. They should. O Pioneers! shows some much about America -- the hard work and conclusion of immigrants, the longing for a improve life, wholesome love versus marriages of convenience, and tragedy....(no spoilers.) If you lot oasis't read information technology, you lot must.
Song of the Distraction is an excellent portrait of a adult female struggling to become an artist and dealing with the price of fame.
I was able to download this volume for free on my Kindle, but it would have been worth buying. It is certainly worth the investment of time to read (or re-read) these classics.

I liked the way groups of immigrants were portrayed. They seemed be drawn from Ms. Cather's own life experiences.
Another fantabulous novel by Willa Cather. A tragic novel in the early American West.I liked the way groups of immigrants were portrayed. They seemed be fatigued from Ms. Cather's own life experiences.
