There are vi of the states, so I used two lbs. beefiness stew meat, 4 cups of beef bone broth, 6 medium russets, and basically doubled the seasonings. I mixed nigh 6 teaspoons of cornstarch with some of the broth in a minor bowl when it was done, added it to the pot, and turned information technology on sauté to thicken it, and it was perfect!

Information technology turned out corking! I added carrots and parsnips both cut into 1 inch pieces. I too used fresh rosemary. Information technology was better than I expected. I took a 1/2 cup of flour, 1 tsp table salt and 1/2 tsp black pepper and put it into a gallon sized nada lock bag. I so added the cutting up stew meat and shook information technology until the meat was covered. Equally I removed the meat from the handbag I made sure to shake off the extra flour. I and then browned the meat on the sauté characteristic of the Instant Pot. This made the sauce thick and rich. It was much improve this way than the original way which had a very sparse broth.

10.27.18 Used stew beef instead of beef chuck and added more than carrots (just because nosotros honey them). The Worcestershire, tomato paste, rosemary added to the beef broth created neat flavor, and then once the force per unit area went down, I removed the meat and veggies from the inner pot, turned to Saute and made some gravy, put the meat and veggies back in the pot, and reheated. Good recipe, would brand a again.

I pressured cooked for 25 minutes, then released the pressure and placed my carrots and potatoes in and cooked for five more minutes. I like my vegetables al dente. Turned out well, then I released and added my frozen peas and let them cook in the hot sauce. My husband loved information technology.

This was the kickoff time I used the instant pot and the stew was awesome. I doctored it up a bit with a bundle of onion soup mix (mixed with about a loving cup of water), i can of beef broth, some scarlet wine, anchovies paste, herbes de Provence. I used pocket-sized round potatoes instead of Yukon considering I had them on hand. I did accept to thicken the liquid and so it was less like a soup and it was delicious. There are just two of us so I had plenty left over to freeze and accept at another time. I couldn't believe I could make something that rich in taste in simply 35 minutes!
10/06/2019
This was the first recipe I made with my new InstantPot. It turned out very well. I used russet potatoes since I did not have yukons. I substituted thyme for rosemary since I prefer it. In the future I may utilize a little red vino and decrease the beef broth to enhance the flavor. I also followed the recommendation of others and mixed 1/4 cup flour and salt and pepper in a plastic bag and shook the stew meat in information technology and then sauteed the meat. The flour helped thicken the sauce. The stew tasted fifty-fifty better the adjacent day. This is a keeper!

I followed the directions pretty much exactly and got a outcome that was pretty much what was shown. I used 1 of those trays of "stew meat" from the meat department, and it turned out and then tender. I couldn't believe it. I peeled two potatoes and didn't peel the other 2 as an experiment. The un-peeled ones turned out only fine. I wouldn't bother peeling them next time. I cooked for 35 mins, naturally depressurize for ten, so vented. All veggies were perfect. The liquid is more akin to soup than stew, then I made roux and stirred in the liquid which thickened it closer to a gravy, which is a step I would recommend to anyone making this recipe.

Splendid stew - bully recipe Fioa! I'one thousand a little total writing this now:). I followed some of the other recommendations (cutting veggies upward into bigger chunks, and used stew meat, etc.). Great advice, everyone! And, as someone else mentioned, I tend to add together somewhere betwixt i.5-2x the spices including garlic, lycopersicon esculentum paste, Worcestershire sauce. Measuring is optional, right. From other suggestions, I also added extra veggies (whole mushrooms cut in one-half, thick-cut carrots, and potatoes). My 8 quart InstantPot had about two-iii inches of room from the top when everything was added. I gear up the InstantPot on 'Stew' mode for 25 minutes and x minutes of it machine pressure release before I opened the vent. My carrots were nevertheless moderately firm (because of the larger cuts), the potatoes were phenomenal and the venting had me drooling from the aromas. And because I used stew meat, information technology was the perfect tenderness! I likewise made the goop a little thicker, simply not to a gravy consistency as I prefer mine somewhere between soup and gravy. The add-on of 2 beef bouillon cubes added a squeamish season as well, simply I didn't add them until I thickened information technology up a flake on saute mode. Not many changes to the core recipe (just more of the skillful stuff) and the season was phenomenal!
11/06/2018
I cooked on Stew/Meat simply only for 25 min. I was worried 35 was also long. Glad I did. My vegetables were very soft, any longer they would accept been as well mushy. The meat was tender and some pieces still had a lilliputian pink to them which I like. I followed another reviewers idea and made gravy subsequently on sauté function. Lots of flavor, great recipe.
10/06/2019
My husband is picky most beef stew and said this is the all-time one he's had in years! We would add at least some other lb of beef and some more carrots, perhaps celery, also, but the basic recipe is succulent and easy and cooks perfectly in the Instant Pot.
11/xiii/2018
Totally will be making this recipe once again! Fantastic flavor. I doubled the recipe. Definitely use the previous advice and thicken the juices into a gravy. Fantastic!
eleven/01/2018
My family unit really liked the tenderness of the beef & the heartiness of this dish.
09/24/2018
I only used 2bouillon cubes but should have used three. Would add 1more Tblspn of tomato plant paste. Would have liked the goop to be a piddling thick rather than so broths. Over all information technology was good.
04/02/2019
I made it according to instructions but included a couple more cloves of garlic. Came out so very proficient!
02/12/2019
Very good and easy to put together. I used a venison roast cut into chunks. I also added one stem of celery cutting into chunks a couple of bay leaves and fresh rosemary and more salt and garlic and so the recipe calls for to add together more flavor. Likewise I added two cups of venison stalk along with the three cups of beef stock.. The liquid did not embrace the veggies but was close. Used the recommended settings and fourth dimension. The venison came out tender simply the veggies were not over cooked. Served with homemade buttermilk biscuits......to die for # :-])
04/fourteen/2019
Perfection in a dish.
09/22/2019
Very skilful! I thickened it with corn starch and broth afterward cooking. Flavor is simply right.
10/nineteen/2019
No mushrooms but the rest of the recipe was followed! Information technology turned out fabled!
02/18/2019
Thank you lot Fioa! Definitely will make information technology again. Unfortunately I didn't have mushrooms or rosemary. Will try that next fourth dimension. I did brand a larger version of this recipe. I used entire 3lbs purse of yellowish potatoes (cut in 1/two or ane/4 depending if the potato was big) and entire box of beef broth (32oz). I as well placed entire trader Joe organic baby carrots at top - so they didn't get as mushy. This made my instant pot full to max line. Then, information technology took a lot longer to build pressure level (about 35 minutes). And after the pot was done cooking, I let it cool naturally for x minutes and and then opened the venting valve. Veggies were perfect!
09/26/2019
Very tasty!
01/21/2020
Potatoes and carrots disintegrated by ii/3rds into pasty base. Still tasted OK. Recommend separating cooking times for meat and vegetables.
11/06/2018
I made this recipe "as is" and it is one of the best stews I take made!
03/06/2019
It turned out actually good. I omitted the rosemary every bit my married man and I don't like information technology. I thickened it with flour & water mixture.
02/24/2019
I made this camping this weekend. Easy, and everyone loved it. Thanks!
02/05/2019
Really delicious.
02/thirteen/2019
Made this for dinner tonight. Just changes I fabricated was to utilise beefiness stew meat and add a bag of frozen peas at the same time I added the other vegetables. I too shook the stew meat in a ziploc bag with some flour before sauting. Definitely a keeper.
01/x/2019
Delicious! The but other affair I did was thicken information technology with corn starch.
03/13/2019
This was super easy to make and it had good flavor.. I have young kids who don't like vegetables but I diced several others squash, zucchini and spinach in with it and they never even knew and my viii yr old daughter had double helpings ii nights in a row she loves information technology so much.. so for sure kid friendly I remember =)

11/01/2018
I accept avoided pressure cookers for years. I finally decided to try an electric 1. The beef stew was fantastic! The meat was tender and juicy. The vegetables were not soggy. The recipe was like shooting fish in a barrel to follow. I did add together an extra carrot. I'll definitely make this dish once again.
02/17/2019
I used frozen stew meat and increased the cook time 10 minutes. I also added peas - it was delicious!

01/02/2020
Very good recipe- I did up the salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce, but overall very tasty.
03/21/2019
Way too sugariness because of the carrots. Beef was not tender, and the potatoes were turned to mush.
03/26/2020
Good baseplate InstaPot recipe. I have a 6qt and used a 2 lb Swiss steak, 1 lb large carrots 1/2" chopped, 1 lb xanthous potatoes quartered, 2 large onions eighthed, and 6 cloves garlic minced. Even though I scaled up the meat, I only used ii cups of broth, the vegetables sweat a lot so the finish product had fluid covering everything. Browned the meat in batches, so lightly rolled in flour, deglazed with a splash of wine. Did every bit others commented, cooked meat for 25 min, natural released for twenty, then put in vegetables for viii min, and naturally released for twenty. The meat was fall autonomously in your oral cavity, but not shredding, there was yet a good hearty texture. The potatoes, carrots, and onions were very soft, I couldn't imagine them belongings whatsoever texture if you cooked them much longer.
03/22/2019
instant pot, cooked for 35min and allow remainder depressure naturally (40 min). Result was very tasty but definitely overcooked. Stew seemed very overcooked. vegetables mostly reduced to broth. Need to cook shorter or forced depressure next time??? Nosotros practise similar the recipe and taste results.
12/31/2018
Super like shooting fish in a barrel and tasted skillful likewise!
09/01/2019
I used 5 cups of broth instead of 3 and left out the lycopersicon esculentum paste - why open a 6-oz can to utilise one tablespoon - the residuum would go to waste product in my kitchen. I as well used round steak instead of stew meat, and added some beefiness base of operations to the broth. Beefiness came out tender! I agree with others that this is ameliorate if the broth is thickened. After mine was cooked and decompression was complete, I added one/3 c flour mixed with a flake of water, and put information technology on saute until thickened. It came out really good and cooked in a very short fourth dimension. Cracking with French or Italian staff of life for dipping.
10/30/2018
Made broth with boullion richer than directions. Went a bit heavier on carrots and used bigger cuts. Should have done mushrooms bit smaller than halves. Very tasty and tender and rich
02/11/2020
My family unit loved it! It was easy and I would definitely make it once again!!
07/28/2019
Bully stew!!!
04/07/2020
Excellent basic stew recipe! Minor changes for fun, after browning meat and sauteing onions and garlic, I added i/2 loving cup red wine. Wife loved it, kids inhaled it and I'm looking frontward to making it for the family unit once more.
12/31/2018
It turned out smashing! I added carrots and parsnips both cut into one inch pieces. I also used fresh rosemary. It was meliorate than I expected. I took a 1/2 cup of flour, i tsp salt and 1/2 tsp black pepper and put it into a gallon sized goose egg lock bag. I then added the cut upwards stew meat and shook it until the meat was covered. Every bit I removed the meat from the bag I fabricated certain to milkshake off the actress flour. I then browned the meat on the sauté feature of the Instant Pot. This made the sauce thick and rich. It was much better this way than the original way which had a very thin broth.
12/30/2019
Best Beef Stew ever!! I followed the added suggestions and it was perfect!! I did add fresh dark-green beans for added color and texture! I may try to add blood-red vino when serving company for added flavor.
eleven/12/2021
Really enjoyed this beef stew. I used an angus beef stew meat that was tender and delicious. My Instapot was large enough to cook all the beef at once, then I did not cook in batches. Added a little Herb de Provence in addition to stale rosemary. Allowed to natural pressure release for thirty min, and then released the residuum speedily. Like others, I added a cornstarch/water blend to thicken. Volition make over again.
ten/25/2021
I've e'er had a hard time making a thick beefiness stew before and this ane let me accomplish that, with some tweaks. This is definitely one of my family unit favorites, perfect for those cold winter nights.
02/19/2021
Did this just according to the recipe. Found the sauce to be besides sparse. Also, no stew tin be made w/o celery if yous are using onions and carrots! And so I added 2 large ribs of celery, cut into 1/ii" slices. I made a roux with flour, butter and a little red wine. I brought the whole pot upwards to a boil for about v min. and viola! The sauce was simply right. My wife, who has hated stews all her life, loved information technology. She went and so far as to say information technology was the best dish that I've e'er fabricated; and she likes my cooking.
01/fourteen/2021

Peace and proficient health to you all!
11/14/2020
Swell tasting stew!
12/31/2020
It was soupy, very watery. I added a flour mixture to brand a watery gravy, merely I don't think it needs then much broth in the recipe!!! The flavor was good, though.
12/25/2020
Meh- great but needs "something." Maybe add together some red vino? Just kinda blah. Mayhap I missed something.....
03/04/2020
It was very flavourful! I had expected the goop to be a bit thicker so I tin can run across where adding a bit of cornstarch may help, but information technology was still succulent and I recall I would keep the broth as is.
01/03/2020
We really liked this and volition definitely make it again. We added extra carrots and some scarlet wine.
01/02/2020
Delicious!
03/16/2020
Only change is I coated the beefiness with coconut and almond flour to brown information technology. Helped to thicken up the broth. Yummy
03/19/2020
I used petite white potato medley (whole, with skin) , baby carrots, and stewed tomatoes. Added tin corn later on cooking. . Deleted onion and mushrooms.
04/07/2019

01/07/2020
Easy recipe ! I didn't accept love apple paste in the pantry then did without. Used cornstarch at the finish cause it was more than like soup and wanted to thicken it upwardly. Simply gave it a 4 considering Im non a huge beefiness stew fan in general. I forgot to first the crockpot in the am and then decided to use the insta pot. I would brand this again.
03/30/2020
My hubby and I love this recipe! I used hot salsa instead of the tomato paste and added one large chopped jalepeno. Also dusted the beef cubes in searing flour before browning them. Volition definitely make this again!
ten/31/2019
Liked by all. I doubled the recipe and made it in the 8qt machine. It took 30 minutes earlier the 35 minute pressure level cooking cycle started. I wanted information technology thicker so I added a couple of tablespoons of dissolved corn starch and let information technology boil on the sauté function for about 10 minutes before serving.
01/03/2019

Fantabulous recipe. Would not change/add together a thing!
07/07/2019
Loved it, wouldn't change a thing.
04/13/2019
I fabricated it and it was wonderful! I did use Knorr Homestyle stock beef flavour (ane little saucepan mixed with 2 cups of h2o-heated to deliquesce). Coating the beef with flour in a cipher lock bag added the low-cal gravy one time the dish is done! I would recommend this to anyone.
01/05/2020

04/03/2020
Everyone enjoyed it,
01/22/2020
The season of this stew was very expert. I agree with other reviewers that it is as well soup similar. I added cornstarch slurry at the cease of the cooking time ( 2 tablespoons of cornstarch and 1/4 loving cup of liquid from the stew), restarted my Instant pot on sear/sauté , added the slurry and stored until it was thickened. I don't think the recipe needs 3 cups of broth.i recall 2 cups is probably enough.
11/23/2019
The only change I made was adding a big can of crushed tomatoes. Everyone enjoyed this stew! Will be making this recipe again.

11/04/2019
Quick, hearty and tasty! My modifications: I omitted the mushrooms because...kids. I tossed the beef chunks in flour before browning then I deglazed the pan with dry out wine. The potatoes came out much too soft, so adjacent fourth dimension I retrieve I will cut them into larger pieces. I but cooked for 15 minutes under high pressure and the meat was autumn-apart tender.
01/21/2020
Delicious! I did add some frozen peas, simply was but as good without them.
12/30/2019

I wasn't sure the pressure temperature to use then went with "loftier". Next time I'll use a lower temp because some potatoes began to break down. But still astonishing and definitely a do-over in my house. :-)
09/19/2021
Astonishing flavor. This recipe is a keeper
02/17/2021
